my story
My professional journey began as a multi-sport athlete who formed a deep connection with my high school strength coaches, both of whom were disciples of legendary methodologies like Triphasic Training and the Westside Conjugate Method. Through their tutelage, I earned a scholarship to play collegiate football at Depauw University. However, after a spinal cord injury derailed the vision I initially had for my college athletics career, I transitioned into collegiate strength and conditioning. Figuring, “Well, if I can’t play football, at least I’ll still be immersed in the athletic environment that I dearly love”.
After being fortunate enough to gain valuable insights from time spent with the Bowling Green State University strength and conditioning staff and the Syracuse University football strength and conditioning staff, I realized that, while I loved S&C, I didn’t love it enough to do it for the rest of my life. Which was a very difficult realization, because I did not have a plan B other than S&C. I had to find a career that somehow fused my athletics background with my background in construction, as the son of a general contractor. That led me to the world of fitness equipment.
My transition into the fitness equipment industry began at Stray Dog Strength, where I first discovered having that background in fitness and construction could be synergistically beneficial. I subsequently joined Rogue Fitness as their inaugural custom gym designer, where I had the privilege of creating environments for global athletic icons and top tier athletic organizations. Following that experience, I joined PLAE as their elite athletics facility designer, further refining my expertise in the high-end fitness facility design world.
These life experiences have curated a perspective and expertise capable of taking training objectives, equipment layouts and architectural blueprints and molding them into world class fitness facilities. Allowing elite athletic organizations, and the commercial world alike, to leverage spaces that take every square inch into consideration to optimize training outcomes.
